Specification 7405 covers the full A-level course across physical, inorganic and organic chemistry.

What you will study

Physical chemistry includes thermodynamics, kinetics, equilibria and electrochemistry. Inorganic chemistry develops periodic trends and transition-metal chemistry. Organic chemistry covers reactions, synthesis and analytical techniques, including spectroscopy.

How assessment works

Three written papers are taken at the end of the course, each lasting 2 hours. Papers 1 and 2 each contribute 35%, and Paper 3 contributes 30%. Assessment includes practical techniques, data analysis and connections across the course.
