What is spatial resolution?

The ability to distinguish two nearby object points as separate.

How does the minimum resolvable angular separation relate to spatial resolution?

A smaller minimum angle means better spatial resolution.

Why does the fovea have high spatial resolution?

Its cones are closely spaced, and their signals have comparatively little convergence onto shared nerve pathways.

How does the convergence of many rod signals onto a shared pathway affect vision?

It improves sensitivity to weak light but makes it harder to identify which rod received the light.

How does the spatial resolution of rod-dominated vision compare with that of cone-dominated vision?

Rod-dominated vision has lower spatial resolution.
